Creative Problem
Solving
Creative Problem Solving
is the application of the Osborn-Parnes Creative Problem Solving Model with
several additional tools and techniques added to enhance each step of the model.
The Osborn-Parnes Creative Problem Solving Model consists of an Ideation session
that runs through a six-step approach. The steps are:
- Object Finding: create, collect, and process potential
objectives for the session and converge on a single agreed upon objective.
- Fact Finding: identify and capture all the relevant facts
and issues around the objective. Prioritize the facts that are most relevant.
- Problem Finding: Identify the issues/problems that must be
dealt with in order to meet the objective. Select the single issue/problem you
want to address/solve.
- Idea Generation: Generate as many possible ideas to address
the issue or solve the problem as you can. There are many different ways to do
this. Select a short list of these to be considered.
- Solution Finding: Identify criteria for categorizing and
selecting promising solutions.
- Acceptance Finding: Develop an action plan with actions,
assignments and timeframes.
Throughout this model the facilitator selects different types of tools and
techniques that will help with the process of divergent and convergent thinking.
These can include brainstorming, cardstorming, pattern breaking, the
contradiction matrix, lateral thinking, TRIZ, triggers, the Innovation Matrix,
Inventive Thinking, Quantum Thinking, the Idea Grid and many more.
We would be happy to meet with you to
discuss your situation and how using the Creative Problem Solving process can
help meet your needs. Please send us an RFP or contact us at:
