Small Business Preparedness
In a way a small business is very much like a family with additional issues to consider during emergencies and disasters. In defining small business, for this purpose, we consider three things: employees, locations, and facilities. One to two facilities in the same region with less than 50 employees is considered a small business. Others should look at Large Business Preparedness.
Because most small businesses are family based they face the same issues as families; how do we prepare to survive the most likely emergencies and disasters that we might likely face and what should we do to survive following the disaster for at least 72 hours. Additionally, because the communities that small businesses survive are usually disrupted for some period following a disaster what does the small business do to survive following the disaster. Nearly half of the businesses effected by an emergency will fail within 2 years of the event. So a little preparation will go a long way to ensuring your business is not one of those that fail.
For this approach we provide materials for planning, consulting and facilitation services to aid in design and development of plans and preparing space for emergencies and recovery. |
