Personal Strategic Planning
The DLCG Personal Strategic Planning (PrSP) methodology engages individuals in creating their future through three phases.
- Phase 1 is the Assessment phase examining yourself through seven assessment techniques:
- Modes of Professional Functioning: The MPF Assessment is an assessment of seven areas in which professionals must maintain a high level of capacity and competency to effectively operate.
- Life Roles are those areas in your life that you serve in roles with respect to others.
- Aptitudes are natural inclinations for different types of work.
- Talents refer to special talents an individual has developed, a "special gift".
- Interests are those things that you enjoy doing or you have a special interest in.
- Personal History accounts for those SE events and experiences that have tended to shape our thinking and lives.
- SCOT is an assessment method similar to the SWOT technique for organizations.
- Phase 2 is the Focus Phase through which the individual examines their core to identify their vision, purpose, missions, and values and attempts to create a balance between them.
- Phase 3 is the Planning Phase where the individual identifies areas of strategic focus and then creates both personal and career action plans.
This process is intensely personal and is not well suited to development in an offsite setting like organizational strategic planning. It can be done in small groups yet the setting has to allow for much more individual work with just a little small and large group interaction. We find that it is best done in sections over time by the individual with their coach.
